Arizona Man Arrested for Threatening President-elect #
An Arizona man was arrested after allegedly threatening to kill President-elect Donald Trump in a series of Facebook videos, including one where he appeared to hold an AR-15-style rifle. Manuel Tamayo-Torres faces a felony charge of threatening the president-elect after making several threats against Trump and his family.
Last Thursday, Tamayo-Torres posted a video stating, “You’re gonna die. Your son’s gonna die. Your whole family is going to die. This is reality now for you. This is the only reality you have in your future, dying.” In another video earlier, he threatened to shoot Trump, displaying “what appears to be a white AR-15-style rifle with a 30-round magazine inserted into it.”
On August 23, Tamayo-Torres posted a video from Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, where Trump held a rally. During the event, Trump mentioned his plans to create an independent commission to investigate assassination attempts, referencing an attempt during a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Tamayo-Torres is also facing charges for making false statements on federal forms while attempting to purchase a gun last year in Phoenix, Arizona. It is unclear if Tamayo-Torres has legal representation at this time.
