College athletes could soon see changes in how they are paid for endorsements and a share of broadcast revenue. A class action lawsuit called House v. the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) is seeking to alter the current payment structure for collegiate players. The NCAA could be required to pay up to $20 billion if it loses the case. A potential settlement could amount to $2.7 billion in back-pay damages and would likely lead to a restructuring of athlete compensation. College sports generate significant revenue, with football and basketball alone bringing in $7.9 billion in the last school year.
