High waters caused extensive flooding in Houston on Saturday after heavy rains. More than 400 people were rescued from homes, rooftops, and roads submerged in murky water. Many others were preparing to evacuate. A flood watch remained in effect, with additional rainfall expected, posing a high risk of major flooding in Harris County and nearby areas. Houston authorities reported no deaths or injuries. Homes across Texas, including rural East Texas, were affected by flooding from the heavy rains. Houston’s susceptibility to flooding is well-known, with Hurricane Harvey causing widespread devastation in 2017.
