Nvidia to launch China-focused AI chip in Q2 2024, sources say

U.S. chipmaker Nvidia plans to begin mass production in the second quarter of 2024 of an artificial intelligence (AI) chip it designed for a specific market. The chip, called H20, was developed to meet restrictions announced in October. It was originally scheduled for launch last November but faced delays due to integration issues. Production volume will initially be limited, with priority given to major customers. Nvidia is betting on these chips to maintain its market share in the country following tightened export restrictions. The chipmaker has also introduced a modified gaming chip that complies with the new rules.
