The United States Ambassador to the United Nations warned that the proposed resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza would not be adopted by Washington. The US has been working on a deal between Israel and Hamas to bring a pause in the fighting for at least six weeks. The ambassador stated that this deal represents the best opportunity to unite hostages with their families and provide essential aid to Palestinian civilians. The US does not support the draft resolution and believes it may run counter to the desired outcomes. The ambassador called on the UN Security Council to increase pressure on Hamas to accept the proposed deal.
