Marina Abramovic, a renowned performance artist, recently stood facing the ocean on Fire Island. Dressed in a long red dress, she raised her arms to form a T shape, expressing emotions that may have included rage at humanity’s impact on the planet. Abramovic, known for her endurance-based artwork, aimed to give the ocean positive energy and unconditional love as a way to heal. The artist’s new piece, titled “Performance for the Oceans,” consists of three photographs that will be auctioned by Christie’s in London to support a conservation charity. The artwork aims to highlight the need to reset humanity’s relationship with the oceans.
